May Reunion Committee meeting:

I just wanted to remind everyone that the 10yr 1997 Surrattsville High School Reunion will be held on August 3^rd & 4^th, 2007. The event on August 3^rd is going to be an evening event that you will be able to see old classmates to get reacquainted before the MAIN EVENT ON August 4^th. This Friday evening event will be FREE- we are going to meet at a local place & if you PRE-PAID for the weekend events then you will receive a Reunion Packet that night.

On August 4^th- we are going to have a Family BBQ @ Surrattsville High from 11-4. Catering will be provided. There will also be a lot of kid actives, 1997 old Memorabilia on display through out the school, DJ onsite for entertainment & much more ! The cost is $25 individual ticket & $5 per child (between the ages of 5 – 13). This cost is only available until JULY 15^th- after that time individual ticket will be raised to $30. You can PREPAY for these events by visiting our CLASS WEBSITE @ http://shs1997reunion.blogspot.com/. (You use the PAYPAL feature located on the right side of the page) (REMEMBER this is at a DISCOUNTED cost until JULY 15^th !)

The 2^nd event on August 4^th will be the Adult Evening Event for class members & guest only. (No kids) This will be located at the Colony South Hotel/Banquet Hall from 7pm – 11pm. There will be food served, also alcoholic drinks available at an additional cost. We will have a DJ onsite to liven up the atmosphere & also a SURPRISE SPEAKER/GUEST. We are attempting to locate a comedian for the event to provide entertainment as well. At the end of the night there will be PRIZES awarded for class members or guest. You will be given a nice Gift Bag & 1997 10yr Reunion Wine glass/Shot glass for attending this event. The cost of the Adult Evening Event will be $60 per couple or $35 individual. These cost’s are only available until JULY 15^th- after the individual ticket will be $70 per couple or $40 individual.

IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO ATTEND BOTH EVENTS- the rate PER COUPLE is $100 (This includes 2 tickets to the BBQ & 2 tickets to the Adult Event) & $55 for an INDIVIDUAL ticket to both events.

SIDE BAR: Colony South is offering rooms at a discounted cost for this event. The room rate for a double occupancy is $129 per night. You need to make sure to have this reservation made by July 6^th by calling 1-800-537-1147 & use the code SHS97. Also OVERNIGHT guest will receive Complimentary FULL Breakfast- served in their restaurant.

We’ve attempted to keep these cost as LOW as possible, so if you would like to attend & need assistance in paying the cost please let me know personally by emailing me @ mcrown@agentrics.com & I will contact one of our sponsor’s to see if they are willing to pick up the cost due to the high price.

Previous Information

Our “March Meeting” went very well…

We have confirmed the 10yr Surrattsville Reunion for August 3rd & August 4th. The event on August 3rd; will be at a local restaurant/bar to “Get Reacquainted”. The BIG/MAIN event on August 4th will be @ Surrattsville High School between 11 – 3pm. We will have this event catered by a well known local catering service. There will be a wide range of menu items to accommodate all guest. Jerk chicken, Pork/Beef ribs, Hot dogs, Hamburgers, baked beans, fruit- just to name a few. Also the Saturday evening event will be held at Colony South 7 – 11pm, with a DJ to entertain guests. We hope to have a “Surprise Guest Speaker” at the event- that only the COMMITTEE members will know. This event will only be for the Graduate & Guest.

We have tallied up the cost for all events. We are estimating the tickets will be just about $60 per person. This is the cost for attending BOTH events. We will make tickets for the event payable in advance at a discounted cost- as soon as we get the bank account setup for the event. Also- if you would only like to attend 1 event instead of both- tickets can be purchased for separate events. ($30 for BBQ event & $40 for Evening event- per person) We do realize a lot of graduates have kids of their own now- so kids UNDER 5yr’s of age will be FREE & kids between the age’s of 5 – 12 will be $5.

We are working on the MAIN INVITATION- which will be sent out sometime in May- so keep an eye open in the mailbox- that will include ALL the important details regarding the REUNION.

We are currently doing a RAFFEL to raise money for the event. You can purchase a ticket from ANY OF THE COMMITTEE members for $5. The raffle drawing will be held @ the REUNION on August 4th. We are raffling off 2 items; 1 22-25’ TV & 1 DVD player/VHS combo……. So if anyone is interesting in buying a ticket- please get in contact with mcrown@agentrics.com. This raffle is OPEN TO ANYONE !!! We plan on promoting this raffle to many members of the Clinton Community over the next coming weeks- LOOK OUT for our booth !!

The February Reunion meeting went very well. We have pin-pointed when/where we are going to have the events at. The 10yr 1997 Surrattsville High School Reunion will be on August 3rd & August 4th !!!! The 2day event is going to consist of the Friday night “Getting reacquainted” happy hour @ a local bar/hotel banquet area. This event will only last a few hours. Then on Saturday- we are going to have a BBQ on the grounds of Surrattsville HIGH. (Why not take it back to where it ALL began) That BBQ will last about 3 or 4 hours. Lastly we will have an “Adult Event” @ the Jasper’s in Crofton- in a private upstairs “exclusive” area.  

We are in the process of tallying up cost for all 3 events, so we should be sending out the “MAIN INVITATION” in the up coming weeks. We are trying to keep cost @ a minimal, so any additional help that can be offered please let me know. 

We are also in the process of sending our “CLASS POSTCARDs” to try to get as many updated class members information as possible. Please make sure you send your most updated info to Surratts97Reunion@gmail.com. Pass along to any members you might run into.

We had our 1st 1997 10yr Reunion Committee Meeting- We have decided on an EARLY August 2007 2 day event. We have formed several committees’ on getting this event planned & executed in order to meet this deadline.

We hope to locate 80% of the 216 class members. We will be sending out a communication letter over the next few weeks to several class members that we have been unable to locate. If you know of any recent addresses for classmates, PLEASE forward them onto Surratts97Reunion@gmail.com.

 We are in the process of setting up a 1997 Reunion Committee Meeting- to get the ball rolling on this REUNION (taking PLACE NEXT YEAR- rain or SHINE) !!

 This meeting would just consist of  97ers' who would like to be involved with PLANNING this Reunion. I would like to be clear on what I mean by "PLANNING".

~ This is NOT going to be a PARTY with alcohol & music. (JAMES WILKINSON)
~ I'm trying to get ALOT accomplished @ this time- so the MORE insight the better.
~ Please IF you don't plan on helping in ANY WAY- don't attend.
~ I'm not asking for people to bring MONEY- I'm ONLY asking for people to come with IDEAS & ready to share them.

 Although it's going to be really GOOOD to see everyone again- I'm trying to get this REUNION planned & set in stone- so the rest of the year will go smoothly while we are putting more things in order.

The meeting will take place @ my house- in Brandywine. I will be sending out an EVITE- to anyone that responds. The date on this meeting should be set sometime this weekend but no later then next Friday.
